Highlights you can experience

Destination 1: Nairobi

Upon your arrival at Nairobi airport, you will be met by your private driver, who will take you to your accommodation. Spend the first night in the state capital Nairobi. Often the best idea for this day is to take the opportunity to recover from your journey. If you have the time and are looking for a city experience, Nairobi can certainly entertain you. The capital of Kenya and an excellent jumping off point for safaris, Nairobi is home to a great restaurant scene as well as interesting museums. The Nairobi National Museum informs guests about local art as well as the wildlife and early human history. One can hand-feed giraffes at the Giraffe sanctuary or get a quick lesson on the cultures of Kenya at the Kenya cultural centre.

Destination 2: Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Today you start your great adventure to East Africa’s most significant national parks. We will meet you in Nairobi for a short orientation about the coming days. After meeting your guide, you make your way to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in the spectacular Mt Kenya region. This private conservancy is a leading example of wildlife conservation and home to endangered black rhinos and African wild dogs. You will arrive here in the afternoon and go on the first game drive of your holiday! As we explore the region be on the lookout for amazing wildlife, such as lions and elephants. Here is an exciting opportunity to watch the diverse wildlife meander by your safari tent from the privacy of your terrace as sip on an evening drink. Welcome to the bush!

Destination 3: Lake Nakuru National Park

Safari days always require an early start - but you won’t mind when you are rewarded with catching the more active animals in the morning! After a tasty breakfast, you head towards Lake Nakuru National Park and on the way, we’ll be mesmerised at Kenya’s highest waterfall (230 feet) in Nyahururu. Later on, as we pass by local villages, you’ll arrive at Lake Nakuru for your afternoon game drive. A paradise for bird-lovers, the lake is well-known for its large flamingo population which colours the lake in a pink hue, depending on water levels and time of the year. This national park is also home to the rare Rothschild's giraffe and black and white rhinos. In only two days you will have seen more of the animals of East Africa than you could imagine. When the sun sets, it is time to relax at your camp for the night.

Destination 4: Masai Mara

Prepare to be amazed today as you drive south into the magical Masai Mara! On your way across the Great Rift Valley, we’ll see Lake Naivasha, the flower-capital of Kenya and Mt Suswa, a dormant volcano. Heading further into the land of the Masai, you will arrive at one of the most spectacular places for wildlife sightings anywhere. Your first of many game drives in the Masai Mara starts in the afternoon. Home of the Big Five – elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard – as well as numerous other species, you will spend the next days viewing the sensational wildlife. We will be staying in the reserve along the banks of the Talek River so be prepared for a truly wonderful experience as the animals aren’t restricted by fences and you can expect wildlife in wander close to your accommodation! You'll want to head out bright and early again today to best explore the game reserve as the animals are more active in the cooler mornings. No matter how often you go on a game drive you’ll always want to keep going back out there! If you are visiting during the Great Migration, when hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebras migrate to Kenya from Tanzania’s Serengeti, you’ll want to stop at the Mara River. Here you could get lucky and witness a river-crossing where the animals will cross the river while trying to avoid numerous hungry crocodiles! You have the full day to explore the park but be sure to take advantage as much as you can and enjoy your time in this spectacular environment. You’ll also not want to call it quits for the day after seeing the Big 5, as there is so much more to see here: from hyenas and cheetahs that roam the savannah to waterbucks and zebras congregating at the rivers. Even hippos can be spotted soaking in the river.

Destination 5: Lake Victoria

Your last morning in Kenya starts early again. Enjoy the surroundings of the Masai Mara one last time before you head out towards Tanzania and Lake Victoria, your destination for today. The lake is home to many villages and fishing, as well as tourism, is the economic backbone of the area. The lake has numerous islands that are full of wildlife and unique vegetation. Along the shores of the largest lake on the continent, you can dust-off from the past day’s adventures and take a walk along the shoreline to visit local fishing villages.
Welcome to Tanzania!

Destination 6: Central Serengeti

You start the day just a few miles from the entrance to the famous Serengeti National Park. After a relaxed day on the lakeside it is time to return to the bush! You’ll spend the full day on game drives as you explore this truly wonderful national park. Along with the Masai Mara park, the Serengeti is also home to the great migration of wildebeests and zebras. If you missed the herds in Kenya, you may have more luck here seeing this amazing spectacle here. The name Serengeti translates to “endless plains” and you will quickly notice why: open grassland as far as the eye can see – simply breathtaking! These seemingly endless plains are dotted with kopjes, large rock formations, and are a preferred spot for predators like lions to relax and nap. In the late afternoon, you will arrive at your camp in the middle of the Serengeti. This unfenced tented camp will get you as close to nature as you want!

As the sun rises over the Serengeti you’ll awake to wild animals sounds - a unique experience! First, you’ll have a bush breakfast to get you started and then you’ll continue your exploration of the park with your guide. Today you can go left when others go right, or go up river when others go down, today is all about experiencing private moments among the amazing wildlife here. The Serengeti is known for its numerous and large prides of lions, lazing under the afternoon soon, looking for shade under the distinct acacia trees of the region. Be sure to keep your eyes open for leopards feasting on a recent kill up in the trees as well! No day on safari is like the other and you will be amazed at all the new sightings you’ll have even after so many days of being on safari. At the end of another exciting day in the Serengeti, we’ll return to camp; here you can join the other guests in front of a crackling campfire as you recount the day's sightings.

Destination 7: Karatu

As you leave the Serengeti early this morning be sure to take this opportunity to watch out for more predators – when the temperatures are cooler, big cats are more active and embark on their first hunt of the day. You will arrive in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in the late morning and drive down into the world-famous Crater for a spectacular last game drive of your safari. This large inactive volcanic caldera is home to up to 25,000 animals and due to its relatively small size, it isn’t hard to find signs of the wildlife here! Large herds of zebras, buffaloes and lions roam the crater floor. The steep crater walls, covered in thick trees, are always visible, making for a unique scenic paradise. After your game drive you continue to nearby Karatu and spend the last night of your safari in one of the beautifully located lodges here.

Destination 8: Pongwe

Today you say goodbye to the excitement of Tanzania’s amazing wildlife and national parks and head to the island of Zanzibar for rest and relaxation. Jambiani awaits you with wide, fine-sand beaches, turquoise waters and friendly villagers. You can head into the turquoise blue waters to snorkel or scuba dive either on your own or as part of a tour. Those who prefer to stay on land can enjoy a stone and spice tour to get an in-depth tour of Stone Town and its interesting history as well as learn about the booming spice trade that made Zanzibar famous. On further days you can choose to relax beachside at your hotel or head back into, or onto, the ocean. A fascinating underwater world awaits you along the coast of Jambiani and the area is known as the tropical fish capital of eastern Africa. The waters around Jambiani are also well-suited for kite surfing for those looking for an adrenaline rush! The possibilities for rest and relaxation or adventurous activities are almost endless. At the right time of year, the waters near Zanzibar are excellent for whale watching, from the mysterious Sperm whale to the mesmerising whale shark.
