Highlights you can experience

Destination 1: Perth

Perth combines urban coolness with original natural beauty. Get a feeling for the city centre by visiting gigantic Kings Park and its wonderful botanic garden and Northbridge, the cultural centre of the city. Northbridge awaits with Australia’s most popular young designers and is home to the Art Gallery of Western Australia - definitely worth a visit. Native animals such as wombats, koalas and kangaroos can be seen at the Caversham Wildlife Park and reptile lovers will enjoy the Armadale Reptile Center. For a unique treat, pay a visit to Australia's oldest operating mint and be part of a live gold pour. Cottesloe Beach is Perth’s most popular beach and the place to go if you love surfing.

Destination 2: Margaret River

The Margaret River region is famous for its wonderful wines and awesome surf breaks. For wine lovers, the region is home to some of the country’s best wineries and several days can be spent exploring them all. Those who want to ride a couple of waves should head to Surfers Point Prevelly - the number one surfing spot in Margaret River with first-rate facilities for surfers and spectators. Also in the region is the Bussleton Jetty, built in 1865 for seaplanes and ships to dock at; it is today full of attractions, like the underwater restaurant and observatory and undersea helmet walks. Be sure to climb the Leeuwin Lighthouse just south of Margaret River to enjoy one of the world’s best ocean views.

Destination 3: Rottnest Island

The former prison island is now a protected nature reserve, known for its wonderful beaches, clear-blue waters and unique flora and fauna. Most notably, the island is home to the charming Quokka who live only in Western Australia and are very sociable. Due to their sweet nature and permanent grin, they are very photogenic - if you can find one! A parachute jump over the island with Geronimo Skydive will guarantee you a surge of pure adrenalin. For those who prefer a more laid-back experience, rent a bike at the ferry station and explore the island’s many bike paths or rent snorkelling equipment to best explore the offshore marine paradise.

Destination 4: Fremantle

The Fremantle Market is one of the top highlights in ‘Freo’ that you should not miss. Here you will find everything from furnishings, art and antiques to clothes and souvenirs. Taste delicious ethnic foods as you browse through the unique offerings here. Impressive Victoria-era buildings, lovingly restored are a highlight in Fremantle, as are a variety of cafes and bars that line the South Terrace - also called Cappuccino Strip. Fremantle Prison is definitely worth visiting for its great historical value and the superb tours available - some by boat, in tunnels underneath the building! The prison and a lot of the town were built in the 1850s by thousands of convicts from Britain which helped form the future of Western Australia.
